Do I Really Have to Wear Sunscreen Every Day?

The sun is responsible for most of what people assume is normal ageing – fine lines & wrinkles, pigmentation discoloration, freckles, sagging skin and dullness. This can also be called “photodamage” – and it is inevitable! If beautiful woman applying sunscreenyou doubt this, look at the skin on your behind and compare it to the skin on the back of your hands! We see the sun every day and are exposed to it a lot more than we are aware. We are even exposed – to some degree – while driving, on a cloudy day.

We know you’ve heard the myth that you get darker on an overcast day! It is important to be very vigilant in applying plenty of sunscreen to our most affected areas – face, neck, décolletage, and back of hands. This means reapplying SPF every 2 hours if you are in the sun all day and/or sweating – as well as applying SPF to your hands after ever wash. We know, we know – it’s work, but it’s worth it!

An expert Laser Doctor came to train me years ago – whom is now such a lovely friend – and told me that she reapplies her sunscreen throughout the day and has been wearing gloves while she drives for as long as she can remember. It’s not something we generally think about – but, yes, we are in fact exposed while we are driving! Moral of this story – she has incredible skin and swears by sunscreen.

O Cosmedics – the amazing skincare line we stock here at Laser Skin Centre – produces a stellar SPF +30 – you can even choose between two options; tinted and un-tinted. Most clients come in and want to skip SPF because they fear the oily, heavy feel and “sunscreeny” smell. Long behold – O Cosmedics Mineral Pro is none of those! It does not smell like sunscreen and is so light you can’t feel it on your skin, and it is price friendly ($49). Don’t skip out on a vital part of your skincare routine any longer – you will indeed see a change! We have you covered, xx.
